What is Botox? How is it applied?
Botox application process: botulinum toxin (the product of a bacterium with a weakening effect on the muscles) is applied to the respective muscles by means of tiny needles. It is intended to remove wrinkles that occur with mimic from the face. It is aimed to weaken muscle strength by small doze injections into the muscles providing these mimics. Thus, such weakening of the muscles, wrinkles, reduces the lines formed by the mimics. It should be remembered that Botox is not very effective in removing the existing lines that occur without mimic, during relaxation. The effect of the injection starts in about 5-7 days after the procedure. This relaxation-slimming of the muscles lasts for about 3-6 months (often 3-4 months). In other words, repetitive injections are required after some period of time in order to maintain the effect.
The botox injections may also have some risks. The targeted effect takes approximately 10-12 days for its full realization. During this time, some facial asymmetries may be observed. Without any known reason some people are less sensitive or insensitive to Botox. That means that, the targeted effect of Botox after the injection on such individuals may be very slightly or not seen. After the injections, such undesirable results as headache, double vision, bruising, redness, eyelid fall, eyebrow asymmetry, allergic reactions may be observed. If those occur, such effects persist for the duration of the Botox effect and regress within 3-4 months.
What are the Fillers? How are they applied?
The fillers are used for increasing the volume of any part of body (face, back, nose, etc.), filling the deep wrinkles and plump lip. The persistence of the fillers varies depending on the product used, the area and the amount applied, with an average duration of 9-12 months (more durable in the jaw and cheek areas due to their structure). Also, there are some available fillings containing longer-lasting synthetic material. Anesthesia can be provided by cream or local injection before the filling application. After waiting for a while, the skin is cleaned with an antiseptic substance and the injection of the material called cannula is made with tiny needles. More than one type of filler can be applied for one person, in one or different areas, depending on the depth of the area that needs to be filled due to its lack of volume or whether it is planned to increase the filler volume. After the injection, a light massage and ice treatment is applied. For some reasons not fully understood, the persistence of fillers on some individuals may be shorter than expected.
